Testimonies
As a Certified Nurse Assistant for Hospice for many years I love that I’m awarded the ability to spend quality time caring for my patient. Ensuring we go above and beyond to make each day a better day for my patient and their families is important to myself and the rest of my team.
— Christina Medina, CNA
Being a Hospice nurse since 1992 has allowed me to be able to be apart of hundreds of patients and families’ journey through Hospice care. It has allowed me to watch so many families get the support they needed during a difficult time and knowing that I have been able to help those patient and family accept and find peace within their journey, by allowing me to hold their hand and let them know that they are all going to be okay has truly given me the greatest joy and experiences that I will truly never forget.
— Tracy Campbell, Registered Nurse

You may still be wondering…
How much do your services cost?
Medicare covers the majority of hospice services in the United States, including medical services, medications, medical equipment, and support for patients and their families. Most private health insurance plans also offer hospice benefits. Additionally, Medicaid often covers hospice services, but the requirements vary from state to state. For those without insurance or with limited resources, please ask about charitable care or reduced payment options for these essential end-of-life services.
What services are covered with hospice care?
We offer a range of services designed to help patients and families navigate the complexity of a new season. In addition to skilled medical care, this often includes emotional and psychosocial counseling, spiritual care, practical assistance with daily activities, as well as companionship and other support by trained hospice volunteers.
How does someone qualify for hospice?
Hospice care providers are required to follow Medicare guidelines which define eligibility as “patients with a terminal illness and a medical prognosis of 6 months or less to live, if the illness runs its normal course.” The good news is, hospice is not limited to six months. Patients undergo evaluations periodically to determine whether they still qualify for hospice care. If so, it will be extended.
Can a person “go off” of hospice care after they start?
Yes; we call it graduating from hospice. Hospice graduates are patients whose conditions have improved to the point where they no longer require hospice for the time being. There are a variety of reasons why a patient’s health may get better, from receiving the appropriate medication to maintaining a balanced diet that helps with their conditions. In these cases, we work with the patient and their healthcare providers to transition them to a different care plan or treatment, as needed, while ensuring a smooth and supportive transfer of care.
Who does a hospice team include?
Your Ovation Hospice of Phoenix team can consist of physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers, all working together to manage pain and symptoms, offer emotional support, provide spiritual guidance (if desired), and assist with practical matters, such as medication management and personal care.
What if I have other questions?
We are certain you do, and we’d love to answer them. Please schedule a call or a no-obligation, in-home visit to discuss!
